The claim that chemical weapons were used for the first time in human history in World War I is cracking. Chemicals that have a negative effect on living organisms and are freely available in nature or are readily available have been used in wars since ancient times. One of the first evidences of the use of chemical weapons can be found in the Greek myth of Heracles, when the hero dips his arrows into the blood of Hydra to be toxic and poisoned arrows are also written in Homer's epics  Iliad a odyssey.
