The world is full of mysteries that challenge today's science. The stories of these phenomena can stimulate imagination and reveal previously unknown possibilities. Deciding whether these stories are true is up to you.

The ancient megalithic city (or rather its district) of Puma Punk in Bolivia is one of the most mysterious landmarks on our planet. The mystery remains unsolved for academic historians and archaeologists, as well as for enthusiast researchers who study hypotheses about advanced prehistoric civilizations or follow in the footsteps of extraterrestrials in the deep past.

Puma Punku occupies a large part of the large ancient city of Tiwanako and lies southeast of Lake Titicaca in the Andes. Traces of the Inca presence in this part of South America are evident in the city.

The mystery lies in the extraordinary complexity and accuracy that characterizes these structures. Skillfully made door openings and stone blocks without traces of carving, which are usually fitted with incredible precision.

Jason Yaeger, a professor of anthropology at the University of Wisconsin, believes the city was abandoned by the time, around 1470, when the territories were conquered by the Incas. In any case, the Incas certainly did not offend the annexation of Puma Punk, and the entire city of Tiwanako, to their empire, and then their incorporation into their culture.

They considered this city to be the place where their god, Virakoča, created the first people who became the forefathers of all nations and were sent to the whole world to settle their future territories.

"The (Incas) changed the configuration of the existing buildings somewhat and adapted them to their own rituals that matched their cosmology," Yaeger writes in an article in the School for Advanced Research. The Incas worshiped Tiwanako as the place where Virakocha created the first pairs of representatives of all nations, thus creating diversity and laying the foundations for Inca domination.

Yaeger is of the opinion that the Incas perceived the dilapidated stone statues at Puma Punk as the embodiment of the first people from their myths about the creation of the world. Today they are considered monuments to the ancient rulers of the city.

The true origin and age of megaliths remain controversial to this day. According to the results of a radiocarbon analysis, conducted by anthropologist William Isbell of the University of Illinois, they were built between about 500 and 600 AD. Other scientists believe that the carbon-carbon method is inaccurate and that buildings may be many thousands of years older. (Used metoda does not allow dating stone. A. Posnansky

Arthur Posnansky

Arthur Posnansky, a scientist and engineer, one of the first researchers of our time to study the site, dates the formation of megaliths to the period of about 15 BC. Posnansky used their astronomical adaptation to determine the ages of the buildings. "They built a temple that is a gigantic clock," Neil Steede said in an interview with «Forbidden History».

On the first day of spring, the sun rises directly over the center of the temple and the rays pass through a stone arch. The point of sunrise moves along the horizon line throughout the year. Posnansky hoped that on the days of the summer and winter solstices, the sun would appear over the cornerstones on the other side of the temple, but it turned out that these points did not match his assumption.

After making calculations at sunrise 17 years ago on the days of the solstice, he found a complete match with the corners of the temple.

The Bolivian archaeologist Oswald Rivera agrees that the temple was built on the basis of astronomical calculations. The buildings were intentionally oriented along the sides of the world, he said. However, the builders made a mistake because the sun is not directly above the cornerstones during the solstice.

But Steede does not agree that pedantic builders could make such a mistake. The stones are so precisely assembled that it is not possible to insert even the tip of a needle between them. "I admire the mastery with which the objects were built, and I think the assumption of a mistake is out of the question," says the scientist. Posnansky's measurements have been confirmed by many contemporary engineers, but his conclusions are still a matter for discussion.

Other peculiarities of the megalithic construction include a complex irrigation system with precisely drilled holes and irrigation canals in some stone blocks, which with their mastery exceed the possibilities of the Incas and other nations in the area.

Yaeger writes: “Landscapes and monumental buildings form a harmonious structure, representing human experience, knowledge and synergy, which are certainly not accidental. These amazing places are a real magnet, support the development of various ideas and ideas, and have become a symbol of accumulated human knowledge over the ages. ”
