Journey to Bali (8.): The largest temple complex of Pura Besakih

6th international conference of exopolitics, history and spirituality

Today is a wonderful day - so beautiful with its purifying expression. It rains heavily that the raincoat is useless to me. Basically I enjoy it with the feeling that I have the opportunity to take a moment to relax from the sun, which burns a lot on clear days. My soul and body experience the power of the water element in every step. I have only light sandals in which I am wading the tides of water. It's an amazing celebration in the rain drops in a sacred magical place.

We have had great plans for this day, that bitter magical rain is a bit hurt but I still feel very positive, just like the Bali people themselves. They have a very friendly relationship to all elements, so their ceremonies take place in all weathers.

Today's stop was one of the biggest and the strongest for me. I was in the largest and spiritually deepest temple I've ever experienced in Bali. From a distance deep below the top of the mountain where I was, I felt a great deal of room. I felt like I waited there on that magical temple hill the cross path...

Besakih Temple is one of the largest and most important temples in Bali, which lies almost on the 1000 meter high mountain slope of the highest local mountain Gunung Agung. The natives call it Besakih Temple - clean Besakih. It is actually a complex composed of 23 separate temples. The most important is his name Pura Penataran Agung. As I have learned, all temples are interconnected.

According to my perception and energetic attunement, the energy of the whole complex is extremely healing and so strong that it cleans and heals the soul by mere presence and that of itself. Your karma, non-power, chakras, mind, fate… all this is suddenly hit by a rush of positive healing energy! I feel at home, as if I came back in time. It makes my head spin, my heart pounding, and I have tears in my eyes ...

The mountain itself Gunung Agung is a high 3142 meter and at its center there is a crater with a diameter of 700 meters. When you can scramble to its highest point, you have a wonderful view of the entire natural panorama and the ocean itself. Besakih Temple is located on its southeast slope. The mountain is considered the seat of the spirits of local ancestors. This is the source of the solemn sanctity of the temple complex itself.

Local people say that at the beginning there were very few temples, but they were placed as high as possible in the sky so that they could give tribute to the local gods as easily as possible. As time went on, others began to build in lower locations and villages to make it available to other people.

Name Besakih comes from the Old-Indian language Sanskrit and is derived from words Baski Wasuki. Later on Sanskrit developed a separate Javanese language in which the meaning of the word persisted: congratulation.

According to mythology Samudra Manthan je Besakih the same thing dragon. This dragon revolves around the Mandara Mountain. According to the latest interpretations of old texts, they may have jitters and what we call today alien ship close to you. It is to be understood that our ancestors did not have such a rich vocabulary, and that they used similarities for unknown things ... and that is undoubtedly related to the great mystery of both the oral and the written tradition that the temple was built long before the Hindu religion .

The individual temples are reminiscent of their stepped pyramids. According to current archaeologists, the estimated age is just 2000 years, which will probably not be a very accurate date. The temples have traces of structural elements reminiscent of megalithic and also monolithic structures. They had to use some sophisticated technology to process the stone extracted from the volcano because even today the individual building elements are in very good condition. There are also clearly visible places where the building has been in the last centuries modernly finished. But all this suggests that the building is old in the order of tens of thousands of years, which would be in line with the mythology of the place.

It is reported that in ancient times during the reign of the Balinese king Sri Kesari Warmadewa was besides Pura Penataran Agung the temple was rediscovered Merajan Selonding. The monarch was motivated to build a temple Blan Jong in the village Sanur.

Another temple in the complex is Penataran Agung, which symbolically shows solidarity between an original Indonesian culture, a megalithic era with a Hindu concept. Unfortunately, we do not have more detailed information about the complex's history. Obviously, many temples have been here for so long that the memory of the locals is disappearing ...

The whole complex of temples in Besakih it is built on the basis of the cosmic balance of nature, represented here by one building. The arrangement of the complex itself respects the cardinal points in order to maintain the balance of power. If you look at the architecture itself, it seems to me that several world styles meet here. Certain precise pomp of reliefs and detailed decoration seen in ancient Indian temples on the continent, but there are elements that are more typical of Japanese temples - stepped roofs and high towers (pyramids). On the other hand, gates without vaults resemble portals - entrance gates to another dimension.

Besakih is certainly a great place to meditate and transform yourself. It serves as an altar, a place where in deep humility you can address the ancient gods (the higher spiritual energy) of this place. The temple complex is open to all and to all who seek love, peace, friendship and harmony in their hearts…

According to the Hindu tradition, everything is at one point Mandala. It is the fifth element, Spirit, which initiator and linker at the same time.
