New shots are due to the Chinese satellite Longjiang-2, which entered the lunar orbit in June 2018 and slowly begins to send information back to Earth as part of a mission that brought China to the far side of the Moon for the first time in history.

Longjiang-2 was launched into space along with the Queqaio Chinese satellite and communication probe, which plays a key role for the new Chang'e-4 lunar module. At the beginning of the year, the Chang'e-4 lunar module successfully landed on the far side of the Moon. Queqaio is in a steady orbit behind the Moon, from where it transmits radio signals from the Longjiang-2 and Chang'e-4 module on Earth. Without these two Longjiang-2 and Queqiao satellites, it would not be possible to carry out this mission on the far side of the Moon at all.

Beautiful pictures of the Moon and Earth

The third Longjiang-1 satellite was orbiting the Moon along with Longjiang-2 and Queqiao, but China lost contact with Longjiang-1 on its way to the moon. Fortunately for China, Longjiang-2 and Queqiao proved to be successful and captured great pictures of the Moon and Earth.

Moon and Earth

Longjiang-2 was silenced when Chang'e-4 started landing on the far side of the moon to avoid disturbing communications between Earth scientists and the Moon. But now that both Lunar Modules work and explore the backward part of the Moon, Longjiang-2 is again active. The probe began to work and capture 3 2019. XNUMX time lapse video.

Currently, this satellite has captured many photos and videos. The first photograph captures the distant lunar side in all its beauty together with our Earth. The first photo captured by the satellite was downloaded from the Dwingeloo radio observatory in the Netherlands. Interestingly, Longjiang-2 satellite first photographed the Moon and Earth on a single photo. It is expected that Longjiang-2 will be operational by the end of August 2019, when it will be the fuel for this satellite. Once the fuel has been depleted, its targeted destruction is planned.
