Egyptian Serapeum in Sakkaře

Serapeum of bulls in Saqqara undoubtedly belongs to one of the great mysteries of today 's ancient Egypt. It is located in the complex of the Sakkara locality near the stepped pyramid. The whole place is bound by many questions, especially then what the whole place was for, as it is a large complex of corridors and nooks. So far, only 250 meters of the whole complex have been mapped. Unfortunately, the ceilings are sunken in many places and due to the unstable rock, it is very difficult and expensive to proceed.

It was not easy to get inside

The mystery of completing those niches in which they are called. sarcophagi where everyone weighs several hundred tons. When modern treasure hunters (so-called archaeologists;)) tried to open them, they had to use several strong doses of dynamite to break through. Each sarcophagus consists of a bathtub and a massive lid. Both are processed with such precision that even current CNC machine tools would be a problem.

If you ask an inquiring question: Okay, did they go there and find what? There are two answers to it and both are true. First: nothing - it was empty. Second: bitumen - a mixture reminiscent of asphalt containing the remains of bones of various animals.

Could Serapeum be a burial ground?

Erich von Daniken in one of his presentations he says that according to one legend, this place served as the burial place of beings (animals?) created by the gods in their genetic experiments. Apparently, the ancient Egyptians were afraid to kill those creatures and burn them, but again they wanted to be sure they were not picking up, so they cut them.

Mr Däniken certainly has an interesting idea, but it does not solve all the questions. Why were some sarcophagi empty? Why is a sarcophagus in the middle of the road in one of the corridors, as if they didn't have time to get it to the place? Why would they try to chop animals when it would be easier to burn them? How did they even manipulate such megalithic objects? We need very powerful hydraulics or dynamite for that. And why did all this come about?

It should be borne in mind that this is the only building of its kind in Egypt at all (at least from what we have found so far). It does not fit at all into the well-known concepts of the pyramids on the east bank of the Nile or into the underground funeral complexes on the west bank of the Nile.

I saw the inside of one satellite pyramid in front of the middle pyramid of Giza, I was in the Pyramid of Teti and I was in the Great Pyramid. It can be said that there is one interesting rule: the larger the pyramid, the smaller the external and internal volume of the so-called sarcophagus. Undoubtedly, those in Serape can be said to be the largest in the explored Egypt. A person of average height 175 cm can easily stand in them. There are also great sarcophagi in the tombs of the West Bank of the Nile, but it is aperture. It was always huge, but not more than two meters.

Erich von Däniken: Curiosity is forbidden

Many years ago, Erich von Däniken presented his thesis that extraterrestrial travelers landed on our planet long ago, providing unknown information to Earth residents, thereby speeding up their technical and scientific development. Over time, the author's thesis becomes increasingly relevant and conclusive. The latest archaeological findings and new facts raised even more provocative questions and prompted the contemporaries' interest in the wonderfully rapid development of mankind.
