The Walls of Jericho: How accurate is the biblical story?

Jericho is a small Middle Eastern city located on the west bank of the Jordan River northeast of Jerusalem. Its name is probably derived from the Hebrew term for the moon, as the city was the center of worship of lunar deities.

It is probably the oldest permanently inhabited settlement in the world, famous for its ancient astronomical observatories, the cult of skulls (preservation of skulls that have been separated from the bodies of the dead) and, above all, the imposing walls. The walls of Jericho are the subject of much discussion and scrutiny due to their importance in evaluating the biblical account of the ancient Israeli invasion of Canaan (a designation for the Middle East, where Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Israel are located today. and more or less corresponds to the territory later called Palestine (The name also often appears in the Bible).
