Magazines for children and youth

Children's magazines contain dozens of ads. They raise children for consumption and consumption. The basis is the effort to prepare them as future customers for certain brands of goods.

Specialties are magazines focused on teenagers. They are full of commercials, fictional human stories and thoughtful ideas on how to be IN. The argument of the publishers is that their readers are not supported at their age by parents who do not want to talk to them about topics such as sex, menstruation, sexual intercourse, contraception, etc.

Opponents of magazines, on the other hand, say they contain a large number of advertisements for expensive goods and shape readers to consume and experiment with weight loss.

When asked what you most often look for in magazines, they answered:

  • I'm interested in stories, sometimes I look at tests, which my friend and I try.
  • I'm most interested in a clinic, or I'm looking at the traps of others.
  • I'm watching the fashion, but there is something I like, except for one t-shirt I really bought.

Children are easy to manipulate because they are just creating a value ladder. If their parents don't offer it to them, then they look for it in their neighborhood - with their peers or in magazines. At their age, they are looking for their own identity and want to belong somewhere. Magazines offer them different brands of goods or tell them what is the right way to put on make-up or dress.

Editors: Parents should be grateful for such magazines. No one else wants to talk to them about their important topics. We do it for them.

Mother 12Year daughter: Those magazines are fine. Certainly they are written by experts who understand it. Better if someone explains it to them than if we had fun together.

Grammar school student: I saw it, but there is nothing interesting. This is for girls who do not have their own opinion and do not know the advice.

Student SOU: I'm good. I can ask my mom about everything and we always answer. It's not a problem at all.

Student of primary school: I would be ashamed to ask my parents about such things. I'd rather read about it in magazines. In addition, they are somehow closer at hand or we talk about it with the girls.

Node: I do not think morale would get worse. If you look at professional studies, teenagers start with sex for the last two generations, still at the same age. If there is a difference of two months, that's a lot.

Psychologist: There is no need to see only the bad pages in those magazines. I believe that girls can deal with advertising and understand that it is not really, and if it were not, I would recommend parents to sit with it and talk about it. For example, if she finds amazing branded sneakers for 699 CZK in the magazine, then explain to her that this is not the case and try to find an alternative for a few crowns and buy her textile colors to make such sneakers that no one else has.

Sociologist: I think these magazines are too early to declare what should be a hidden secret to adulthood.
