The moon may contain terrestrial fossils

A scientific group from the University of Kent came up with the idea that our Moon could contain fossils from Earth. They explain their assumption that in the distant past, the impact of a meteorite on the Earth's surface may have released parts of our landmass into the surrounding universe. Some could then collide with the surface of the moon.

However fantastic this idea may seem, it is not unrealistic. The researchers performed an experiment using an ice cube (simulating a meteorite with fossils), which they fired with a gas charge against a bag filled with water. According to scientists, this is an elegant way to simulate the impact of a meteorite at high speed on the surface of the Moon.

Kieren Torres Howard of City University, New York, says discovering such fragments would be amazing. "This is another reason why we should return to the moon."

Just as fragments from planet Earth could fall on the Moon, we can find fragments on the Moon from other planets outside our solar system. It should also be taken into account that on the Moon (mainly on its opposite side) there are buildings and ruins of buildings. So it is possible that we will find the remains of those who built and used them.
