Water has been discovered on Itokawa!

Water is an essential component of life, without it life is not possible. It's one of the things we try to find on other planets. The existence of water on another planet takes us much closer to discovering life beyond our planet Earth.

Itokawa

Eating such a discovery of water has recently been recorded on asteroid Itokawa. This asteroid is known as the S-type stone asteroid, which means it was closer to the Sun than to Jupiter. Scientists believe that Itokawa was a fragmentation of another larger asteroid.

The discovery of water at Itokawa is parallel to other discoveries. For example, it has recently been detected Methane on planet Mars. The water finding on Itokawa was not expected by scientists at all. The planet contains much less water than we have here on Earth, but there is a percentage of it.

But no one knows where the water comes from. The water found on Itokawa should have a similar composition to the water in the ocean, so there is a presumption that the water on Earth could have been "transported" by an asteroid or asteroid of this type.

So far, no further search and refinement of the discovery has been carried out, so far we do not know any further information. However, we know that water on Itokawa does not come from the Earth's atmosphere.

Scientists in the next 5 years are planning to explore other C-type asteroids - perhaps more telling how it is possible that there is water on Itokawa and how it actually was about the onset of life on Earth.
