Pirates are calling for a US outrageous affair.

The Pirate Party responds with concern to the information that the US National Security Agency (NSA) has agreed with global IT companies (Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, Apple) track the personal communications of millions of people around the world, including the Czech Republic. We find illegal activity contrary to international agreements, valid European Data Protection Directive and valid Czech law. In addition, violations of the company's own terms of service, more precisely their sections on the protection of personal data, which is a very serious disappointment of the confidence of all customers.

We call on the responsible state officials, including the government and the foreign minister, to take a clear stance on these scandalous findings. At the same time, we call for an investigation into the extent to which this information was transmitted to US security services, as soon as possible, by the establishment of a parliamentary committee of inquiry in the European Parliament. We would also like to draw attention to the fact that the European Parliament is currently negotiating a new regulation on the protection of personal data and we are inviting the Czech MEPs to join in the interest of Czech citizens by supporting and voting on the amendments tabled by the pirate MEP Amelia Andersdotter, and prevent abuse of holes in legislation to circumvent insurance policies by private entities. The Czech Piracy Party is now considering whether to take legal action, such as filing a criminal complaint. Stay together with the Pirates for the interests of Czech citizens and ask for a strict protection of our privacy together!

"I want to believe that the government, deputies and senators will stand up for their citizens, just like the top politicians in other European countries have done. Finally, American espionage is apparently watching them and it is also their privacy. And it can also be a security threat to the state, "adds Ivan Bartoš, chairman of the Pirate.

The Pirate Party proposes to provide asylum in the Czech Republic to Edward Snowden, who bravely provided information revealing these unacceptable interferences with the privacy of millions of people. We demand that state representatives as well as representatives of citizens in the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate and the European Parliament support Edward Snowden, as has already been done by the Icelandic pirate MEP Birgitta Jónsdóttir. Some cases from the recent past have shown that the Czech authorities can give political asylum very quickly if they have political support. Others have unfortunately shown the opposite. Edward Snowden needs support and it will be interesting to see who among the Czech politicians will stand up for him publicly.

"We will monitor this case with great care and urge all citizens to pay attention to it - contact their Members and Senators, share information. Your private calls and mails do not belong to the US government or Google or Microsoft, ”adds Michael Polák, guarantor of Privacy.

The protection of citizens' private information is one of the main topics of the Pirate Party. Since its inception, we have drawn attention to the risks of abuse of monitoring and collecting private data of citizens, whether by commercial entities or by state institutions. The violation of privacy was also part of the ACTA agreement, which triggered one of the biggest global protests a year ago. At that time, protests backed up tens of thousands of people in several demonstrations in the Czech Republic, showing that their privacy is not indifferent to them.

On Saturday, 8.6., That is, at a time when the NSA wiretap case began to bubbling into the public, the Pirates organized a protest march against surveillance systems.
