Beware of labels and fruits and vegetables

Read the labels when buying fruits or vegetables. Even the fruit can contain dangerous water, added water or aspic.

An affair with crispy chicken that is literally pumped by water or another leak with stuffed pieces of pork or minced meat once again "refreshed" by some deciliter of water and emulsifiers has its sequel. As it has been found, similar business practices make some chains also trying to sell fruit or vegetables. The selected species are injected with water, emulsifiers, dyes and natural stiffeners. The fruit will stay fresh longer, but it will increase its weight. This is the most expensive exotic fruit, where each decagram of the weight also represents ten-crown items on its total price. The ever-increasing demand of the Czech consumer at low prices, however, makes it possible to modify the common fruit, rarely vegetables. For obvious reasons, water and emulsifiers are most easily pumped into citrus fruits (lemons, oranges, mandarins, etc.). Next to watermelons and grape wine. The pressure required to feed water into these types of fruit with miniature needles may not be large and the given fruit can hold up to 30% extra water. At home, you may be glad that you have squeezed a delicious amount of juice from the lemon, but unfortunately the truth is very sad. The lemon squeezes only chemically treated water that has been artificially prepared for lemon. A more complex process then involves pumping water and emulsifiers into pineapples, strawberries or pears. Here too, the weight of a single piece of fruit can be increased by up to 10%.
The chain of business in its scams relies on the generally known fact that meat and fruit and vegetables are largely water-based. Especially for fruit, the information on the label that the "fruit food" (as these products call it) contains some water, actually it only documents the amount of water in the fruit. But it is not. Information on the amount of water is just water that has been artificially incorporated into the fruit.
Chains have also been rebuilding their premises so that the fruit and vegetables are weighted at the cash desk. If you appreciate your fruit yourself, a label will be brought out of your balance, which according to the law must contain the composition information. There you can easily read about the composition of banana, tangerine or pineapple (see picture below). However, if you are weighing fruit at the cash desk, you do not even have a label to see! Then you buy these "improved" fruits in good faith and sweet ignorance.
However, apart from robbing the customer, the greatest risk is health. In the figure below, the lemon contains E384 - isopropyl citrate or isopropyl citrate, in addition to the "harmless" ices, the purpose of which is to harden the water and prevent the rancidity process that causes trace amounts of unsaturated fatty acids in the lemon.
The problem is that the use of this emulsifier is prohibited in the Czech Republic!
But the reality is sad. In addition to the forbidden lemon, the chains do not allow anything unfair. If the label lays the lemon as "Fruit Food - Lemon" and lists its complete composition with a percentage of the individual lemon components, this fact is not legally countervailable. It is unbalanced to weigh the fruit at the cash desk when it does not take care of the fruit store.
The only good advice for a Czech customer is still the same:
Read the labels.
Do not buy such processed fruit.
Complain with your merchant that you do not plan to buy any similar birds.

Here bought fruit food lemon. The logo and manufacturer name were deliberately blurred.
