When did the Poltergeist run?

The noisy ghost first appears in the film on the evening of August 30, 1977. That night, Janet confides to his mother Peggy that her brother's bed is swaying. The next evening, Mrs. Hodgson hears a loud sound from the stairs. He runs into the nursery and sees the dresser moving across the floor. She wants to stop him, but an unknown force overpowers her and tries to imprison her in peace.

In fact, the first speech was a poltergeist moving a dresser. "I heard something moving next to the room," Janet said in a documentary on the case. "My mother thought we were to blame, that we were too noisy. I told her to go see for herself. She could see with her own eyes the dresser moving on its own. "

Was there a knock?

Yes. This is where the film and reality match. The family was so frightened by these sounds that they slept in only one room and with the light on. The sounds of knocking were also confirmed by their neighbor, who fled their house in fear after this experience. A knock may also be heard during Janet's interview with Daily Mail reporters. In which, however, we hear not only sounds, but also the voice of the poltergeist himself, who speaks through a young girl.

Reverse crosses

Fiction. It's just a movie effect. Reverse crosses are not a traditional symbol of evil. They are the cognitive mark of Saint Peter, who was able to cruciate his head down, for he was convinced he was not worthy to be nailed to the cross in the same way as Jesus.

Helped the neighboring family?

Yes. Neighbors Vic and Peggy Notthingham offered to try to come to terms with mysterious sounds. "When we got there, there was a loud knock: from the walls, the bedroom and the ceiling," Vic said. "It really scared us."

Did Janet really levitate?

In Conjuring 2, we can see a scene where Janet is literally pinned to the ceiling. But the reality was different. It hovered "only" over the bed or was thrown out of it. It was as if she was trying to jump out of her bed. "It was amazing," she said. "You never knew where you would end up."

The levitation was also confirmed by two random witnesses who were walking around the Hodgson house. "They saw me jumping against the window. I thought I'd get out of it on the street, "Janet said.

JanetDid Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren participate in this investigation?

Yes, but only for a very short time. The Warrens visited the family in the summer of 1978 to join the crowd of investigators involved in resolving the case. Although the film suggests that the Warren were the main leaders of the research, the truth is, at least according to Guy Lyon Playfair, who was very involved in the matter and then wrote a book about it, that they came unannounced and stayed only one day.

Was Janet possessed by the spirit of a man named Bill Wilkins?

From the surviving interviews, it can be concluded that Janet was supported by investigator Maurice Gross to change her voice. One evening he declared that in order for the poltergeist to meet all the requirements, it would still be necessary to hear his voice. The next day, Janet began to speak in a deep male voice.

"I felt a force come into me that no one would understand," Janet said four years later. "I don't like to remember it. However, I don't think the spirit was really evil. It seemed to me that he only wanted to be with our family. That he doesn't want to hurt us. He died and finally wanted peace. And the only way to do that was to communicate through me. ”

Was he really the previous owner of Bill Hodson's Bill Wilkins?

Yes. His son confirmed this, supporting Janet's claim that the man had died in a chair downstairs in the living room from a brain hemorrhage.

Was Janet and her siblings at school a victim of bullying?

Yes, Janet was nicknamed a ghost girl. Billy was bored in a similar way.

Did the furniture really move around the house?

Policewoman Carolyn Heeps appears to be the most credible witness in this case, stating that she watched herself as the chair on which Wilkins died moved above the ground. Thirty other witnesses confirmed similar phenomena. Other manifestations of the poltergeist included movement and levitation of various objects, sudden cooling of the air, physical attacks, puddles of water on the floor, inscriptions on the walls and spontaneous ignition.

Was the police helpful in this case?

No. The recorded phenomena were not a crime, so it was not a police matter.

Who finished the poltergeist?

Janet believes that they were helped by a priest who visited their house in 1978. The activity of the poltergeist calmed down considerably, but it continued to manifest itself. Peggy heard sounds from time to time, and Billy, who lived in the house until his mother died, said he felt he was being watched.

Conjuring 2

Is it possible that the whole case is fictional?

Yes. The children were caught cheating by the investigator several times. It was also strange that in most cases Janet allegedly spoke in a changed voice only when she was alone. The children then publicly confessed to cheating, but claimed that 98% of the poltergeist's speeches were real.

In a 1980 TV interview, Janet answered the question of what it was like to be persecuted by a poltergaist: "I was not persecuted by him," looking at her sister, who admonished her with a laugh: "Shut up!" the belief that the spirit was not inherently evil; he just wanted to be calm. On the other hand, she could simply give herself and reveal the simple fact that no poltergeist actually existed.

How did the lives of the family unfold after these events?

Janet married very young and left home at the age of 16, her son died at the age of 18 in his sleep. The younger of the brothers died at the age of 14 of cancer. Billy moved out after his mother's death.

Premiere of Conjuring 2 Janet was not very well received. "When I learned about the movie, I was very disappointed. Actually, I did not even know it started spinning. My father died recently, so it made me more upset that it would be all over again for the public. "

Did the poltergeist appear to a new family who moved into the former Hodgson House?

Yes. The family again felt that someone was constantly watching them. There was also an unknown voice from the ground floor. When a mysterious man finally appeared to one of the children in his room, the new owners decided to move out. They stayed in the house for only two months.

As this is a very suggestive film act, various myths are beginning to gather around it, as with the Exorcist. For example, the recent case from India. One viewer felt sick during the screening of the film. He was taken to hospital, where he soon died. However, when the caretakers wanted to move him to another place, they found that the ground had fallen on his body. Obsessions and various apparitions have also been reported, appearing shortly after watching the film.

Is this a well thought out marketing, or is it just a bit of a spur of truth?
