Take a look at the attached photograph, which is captured by the head of the Rameses II statue. Chris Dunn in his book Lost pyramid builder technology thoroughly examines the technological processes of stone processing of Old Egyptians. Because he is an engineer specializing in the processing of materials (including stone), he tries to point out in his work the difficulty of making some details that the Egyptian eye can easily overlook.

One of the peculiarities he has been able to identify is the absolute accuracy of symmetry. Something like that is not anatomically inherent in any human being (let alone Pharaohs), and making such a sculpture by using the chisels would be very difficult - or rather impossible.

On the statue of Ramesse, Chris managed to find other clear signs of machining in addition to the symmetry mentioned. Some contours state that their accuracy is on the edge of our technical skills.

To understand the depth of the whole thing, it is certainly good to read the whole book, for Chris Dunn is very precise in his analytical work.
