Saudi Arabia: rock in Mada'in Saleh

Mada'in Saleh was also known as al-Hijr or Hegra, at least according to the people of Nabatean who allegedly cut their graves into sandstone rocks. It is a plain ornate rock, or has a much deeper history?

The fact is that the style of the reliefs is reminiscent of the architecture of the Jordan site, now known as the Petra city complex. It is also considered in official circles as a burial ground (city of the dead). However, geological surveys show that the city must have had a much longer history than the one it is trying to tell us in history textbooks.

Mada'in Salhe is another example of a monolithic structure

Notice the extensive water erosion at the foot of the Mada'in Saleh rock massif, which grinded the whole piece and smeared the lower part of the reliefs. We would find a similar scene in the area Petra, where many parts of the city are eroded by water. Mada'in Salhe is another example of a monolithic structure.

As always, it is not necessary to resist the idea that later generations used the buildings of anonymous builders as tombs, but this has nothing to do with their original purpose.

Finally, let us add that city Petra in Jordan has its above ground area, which is usually visited by tourists. However, there is still a large complex of corridors stretching perhaps several kilometers, which awaits thorough investigation. Thus, the idea is that even Mada in Saleh will have its underground complex.
