Serapeum Sakkara: Gigantic sarcophagus
1 16. 02. 2020Serapeum Sakkara je serapeum ležící severozápadně od pyramidy Djoser v Sakkaře. In the picture you can see a woman (Patricia Awyan) compared to the so-called sarcophagus. It is obvious that it is a huge bathtub with an even bigger lid. The only thing the scientists found inside was a layer of bitumen (a form of asphalt) that contained small fragments of animal bones.
Let's keep in mind that this is a demonstration of one of the 24 specimens discovered so far in the underground complex of the Sakkar Serape. Each of them weighs more than 100 tons. The idea that something like this was built only with the use of copper chisels and a stone hammer is very naive. The surface is absolutely smooth and the lid fits exactly on the upper edge of the bathtub. Laser measurements have shown that the bath and lid are made with phenomenal accuracy, which we would only achieve with great difficulty today.
