The Nazca Plateau in Peru is mostly known for its mysterious shapes. Less is known about another unexplained mystery that is here - the so-called Hoop holes.

Thousands of pits that have been drilled here into a stone base form a strip that extends a few kilometers above Pisco Valley in Peru. Each jam is about one meter wide and one to two meters deep. However, some are shallow as if they were not completed.

Holes are up to a meter widePits are more than a meter wide.

In width, 8 to 10 holes are arranged in a row next to each other. They lie either in the line or curve in curves, some are alternately distributed. It is estimated that they can be together 6 900!

Until now, no one knows who and why these holes were drilled. In any case, it is artificially created work, which had to take a lot of hours hard work.

None of the locals know anything about why these holes have arisen. Apparently it's been a long time since that In each row 8 to 10 holes.nor did the local legends survive. Indeed, they were only discovered in 20. century aerial exploration from the air. He was interested in the hole himself Erik von Däniken, which I personally came to see and measure.

Archaeologists have only two possible explanations for these holes, but none of them are satisfactory. According to one of these theories, the people in the jam were burying their dead. Dimensions correspond to the size of a person. The trouble is that there were no bones or other human remains found here, not even one material artifact.

According to the second hypothesis, pit pits were used storage of grain. What's strange, however, is why the stockpile farmers dug into the hard rocky bedrock in rugged mountain terrain when they could choose a much simpler and lighter way to store their Nearby settlementsfoodstuffs.

The key to understanding the whole puzzle can be exploring the nearby location recently discovered by satellite imagery. It seems there are the remains of some of the ancient settlement. Maybe its inhabitants are the ones who created these holes. Another guideline may be that the strip of holes suddenly ends right next to an area that is unnatural blackened. This led some researchers to think that they had once been here explosions.

Of course, alternative views, which attributed the origin of the holes to the unknownextraterrestrial civilizations, probably old-time aliens who once visited Earth and left their traces. I could use them for drilling  advanced technologies. Even if we admitted this idea, it still remains a mystery why they did. In any case, these artificial pits were not just a coincidence, and they had some sort of hidden purpose.
