Green children from Woolpit - descendants of aliens?

We commonly imagine green skin in aliens, in the Egyptian god Osiris, in the figures of ancient Celtic mythology. But can you imagine green skin in humans? The story of the Woolpit children tells us that in the 12th century, children with green skin really lived in England.

The story has two authors. One of the authors is the chronicler William of Newburgh, who was a monk at the Priory of Augustine. The second author is Ralph of Coggeshall, a monk of the Cistercian abbey. Ralph of Coggeshall heard this story from a man named Richard de Calne and wrote about it in the Chronicon Anglicanum. William of Newburgh wrote about it later in Historia rerum.

Green children and their story

In the middle of the 12th century, there was an ancient town in the English county of Suffolk called Woolpit. In Old English, the town was called wulf-pytt and was named after the excavated pits in the country. They were ready for stray wolves. Wolves killed livestock and terrorized villagers, but today the village is known for its two green children.

Around 1150, green-skinned children spoke near the pit, spoke an unknown language, and were twice as tall as other children. Otherwise, they looked just like the other children. The children were taken care of by Richard de Calne, who also offered them food. But the children looked as if they had never seen the food before and refused to eat it.

Everything changed when they came across green beans, which literally swallowed. After that, the children were slowly taught another type of food. As the diet changed, so did the color of their skin. Unfortunately, the boy died soon, succumbing to an unknown disease after a long period of melancholy. The girl survived and was named Agnes. When she adapted to her new life and learned to speak, she was finally able to tell her story. A story about where she and her brother come from.

Green world at dusk

One version is that the children were inhabitants of the land of St. Martin, where it is dark most of the day and there is not much sun. The children followed the sound of the bells they heard and suddenly found themselves in a field among the inhabitants of Woolpit. Another version says that the children drove their father's cattle, entered the cave and came out in Woolpit. They could not find the way back home and were discovered by the villagers.

Be that as it may, Agnes was baptized and worked for Sir Richard. She later married Richard Barr and they had at least one child together. So there may still be descendants of "green children" from Woolpit.

According to the East Anglian Daily Times, Agnes was known for her wayward and somewhat rude nature. She had her head and was not always afraid to show it. One source claims that the descendants do exist, but are carefully guarded. I am no longer so bright green in color, but you can still find a green shade in them today.

Who were the real green children? Are they really descendants of aliens?

To this day, the answer is not clear, and this story is surrounded by many questions. Many people believe that children actually come from another world or even a dimension. That they passed through the portal and appeared in an inhabited English village. There are many unanswered questions. Why did they refuse ordinary food? Why did they have green skin? Why didn't anyone try to find the children and bring them home?

Even in history, we find stories of other beings who lived in the underground or a hidden world, which is accessible only through the portal (in films, the portal often has the shape of a large ring). Irish legend of Tuatha Dé Danann he says that the radiant beings were taken away by the Celts, who often portrayed these beings. Today, the figure of Tuatha Dé Danann he often lives in epic fairy tales and movies such as The Lord of the Rings.

Another version of the story - arsenic?

Another story tells that orphaned children were a threat to a man who, by their death, would inherit a large fortune. So he hired the killers, but they felt sorry for the children and left them in the forest, where they got lost.

Another theory states that children were poisoned by arsenic, which colored their bodies green. In the 19th century, arsenic and copper were used to dye fabrics green. These colors were popular with the elite. Arsenic was also found in candies, toys, wallpaper and medicine before humans found it deadly. Many people died so "mysteriously". Symptoms of poisoning are just green hands and yellow nails.

Another theory states that the children were Flemish victims of persecution during the Battle of Fornham in 1173. Martin was a nearby village, separated from the Woolpit River and just a few miles from Bury St. Edmunds, where loud bells were often heard. It is possible that the children were lonely, suffered from poor diet, and eventually went to Woolpit to watch the sound of bells. "

záver

If the explanation is so simple, why didn't the children mention their origin? Why do sources often mention the green color of children and their inability to eat a normal diet? These children still remain a mystery.
