Is dragon man a missing link in human evolution?

Once in a while, the fossil discovery of a hitherto unknown human ancestor causes excitement around the world, and anthropologists and the public are fascinated by a new window into our history. Will we learn more about how we came into being and who we are today, or what was the life of those who lived thousands or even hundreds of thousands of years ago? The latest discovery, announced in June, is a skull found near China's Dragon River, dating back more than 140 years ago. The massive fossilized skull provides compelling information about what people looked like at the time - just for this period in East Asia there was still an empty gap in the human fossil record.
