Curiosity has a problem with wheels

Curiosity is on Mars for over a year and rounds respectively. the wheel casing is in terrible condition.

The wheel casing is made of aluminum alloy. The vehicle weighs about 900 kilograms and is on Mars, where it is one-third the gravity of Earth, which means that each of the six wheels exerts a pressure equivalent to Earth's thirty kilograms. How is it possible that Curiosity has traveled only a few kilometers and ugly lines are already sticking out of the tires of his bikes?

Aluminum alloy -  an alloy referred to as AW 7075, even more in detail 7075-T7351. It is aluminum alloyed mainly with zinc (6%), magnesium (2%), copper (1%) and other elements - titanium, iron, silicon, chromium, etc. This alloy can also be called AlZn6Mg2Cu and ČSN are found under 42 4222. So there is no paper cardboard, but really solid material.

All the more astonishing to think about is the fact that the speed of the Curiosity itself is 30 m per hour. And even if it costs more than it goes, what pressure would have to be exerted to cause such cracks on such a high-quality wheel casing as it orbits Mars with a third gravity from Earth.

As an aircraft mechanic, it amazes me! That the engineers at NASA didn't know what awaited them on Mars, or was there something else behind it? Judge for yourself…
