India: Brihadishwara Temple

Brihadishwara Temple is one of the largest temples in India and is also one of the most prized architectural monuments. The construction of the temple is attributed to the emperor Raja Raja Chola I. The temple was completed in 1010. The temple gained great popularity 1000 years later - in 2010. It is also known as Big temple. The temple is dedicated to Siva.

The temple is located near Thanjavur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
