On November 16.11.1974, XNUMX, scientists used the then largest radio telescope in Arecibo (Puberto Rico) in the world to send a message into space to let potential aliens know about us somewhere in the constellation Hercules. The message was written using binary code and contained information:

1. base of the decimal system - numbers from one to ten (top white)
2. atomic numbers of the elements hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and phosphorus, which are the cornerstone of our DNA. (purple top)
3. Formulas of carbohydrates and bases in DNA nucleotides (green read)
4. Number of nucleotides in the form of a double helix of our DNA (light blue waves and a white column in the middle of them)
5. The red figure represented the average height of a person and his appearance, and to the right of the white cube figure represented the population of the Earth in 1974, which stood at about 4,3 billion.
6. The yellow squares then represent our solar system. From left: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
7. The purple part in the lower half of the image is then a graphical representation of the satellite that sent the signal and below it its dimensions.

It was assumed that it would take at least 25000 years for the signal to reach the nearest star, so the whole experiment was perceived more as a demonstration of the technical conveniences of the time.

27 years later, on August 17.08.2001, XNUMX, we received an answer. The news appeared near a radio telescope in Chilbolton, England, in a corn field.

Two figures appeared in the field. One of its shapes reminded us of a well-known message from Arecibo, and the other of the shape of the sender of a message rendered by rasterizing a photograph as in a black-and-white newspaper. The aliens answered us in the spirit of our message and told us that:

2. Their life is based hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, silicon and phosphorus.
3. Their sugar formulations
4. Number of nucleotides formed into triple helix.
5. The figure shows their appearance. It reminds us of a race of grays - beings with skinny bodies and big heads. The population in our year 2001 was less than 13 billion.
6. Representing their solar system from right to left: the sun and their planets. Their solar system apparently has the same number of major planets. Their sun is smaller in size. They resemble, like us, the third planet, and at the same time the fourth and fifth planets.
7. The following is a graphic nationalization of the device to which they sent the message, including its dimensions. They sent us a better visual appearance in August 2000.

It is certainly worth noting that the Chilbolton satellite is a guarded military area and that both the satellite and its immediate surroundings are guarded by cameras. The recording from the cameras has not been published to date.
