A Spanish-Italian archaeological team found in Egypt ancient reproduction of the legendary Osiris (Usir) tomb, who was the god of the dead in Egyptian mythology, in the burial ground of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, on the West Bank in Thebes.

It is believed that this symbolic burial site was used in rituals to connect the god of the post-mortem life with the immense power of reincarnation and the pharaohs.

Explorers believe the tomb dates back to the 25th dynasty (760-656 BC) or the 26th dynasty (672-525 BC), based on comparisons with similar tombs that contain elements of Osiris's tomb.

The funeral complex is huge. It is multilevel with numerous chambers and shafts. Here we find reliefs of the god Osiris or a room with reliefs depicting demons with knives. There is also a large hall supported by five pillars and a staircase leading down to the funeral complex, where the reliefs of the god Osiris are located. Reliefs of knives with demons were placed in the burial room to protect the body of the deceased.

The beauty of all this can be seen in the emerald statue of the god Osiris, which is located in the central vaulted chapel opposite the staircase, which is 9 meters (29,5 feet) long with an intersecting shaft leading to another empty chamber, from where another 6 meters (19,6 feet) a long shaft leading to the other two rooms. The picture shows a drawing of the tomb structure:

Scientists suspect that the ancient tomb was built in the years 760 525 BC and BC, which corresponds to the reign of 25. dynasty (760 - 656 before nl) and 26. dynasty (672-525 before nl). This estimate is largely based on the architectural similarity of the newly discovered tomb with other funerary complex, which is dedicated to the god Osiris so. Osirion, which lies in Abydos Luxor.

According to the article written in luxor Time magazine is a very clear symbolism of Osiris in the tomb, in which: "Large 3,5 m long staircase and 4 m high ceiling leading to the" underworld "(Netherworld) by another corridor leading directly to the statue of Usir, which is ideally separated and built higher on" his island ". The empty corridor that surrounds it symbolizes a water channel (see Osirion in Abydos); The tomb under the statue therefore identifies the deceased with Osiris. "

While part of the funeral complex was discovered by Philippe Virey in 1887, full archaeological discovery was only recently made. The research team plans to continue exploring the ancient complex in the fall of this year.
