Osho: Meditation does not have a goal

Meditation is the adventure, the greatest adventure that the human mind can dare. Meditation simply means to be, do nothing. No action, no thought, no emotion.

What is meditation?

You just are and you are very happy about it. Where does the joy come from when you do nothing? It comes from nowhere, it comes from everywhere. There is no cause, because being came out of joy.

Meditation arises when you look at all the motives and find that none exist, when you go through all the motives and see their falsehood. You will find that the motives lead nowhere, that you move in a circle, and that you do not change at all.

Motives come and go, control you, keep controlling you, create new desires, but you will never achieve anything. Your hands are still empty. When you look at this, when you look at your life and see how your motives are collapsing… No motive has ever succeeded, no motive has ever helped anyone. The motifs only promise, but the goods are never delivered. One theme collapses, another theme comes and promises you something again… and you are disappointed again. When you are disappointed again and again with your motives, one day you suddenly see - suddenly you see into it, and this view is the beginning of meditation.

Meditation has no motive

There is no germ of anything in it, there is no motive in it. If you meditate for something, it's not meditation but concentration.

Because you are still in the world. Your mind is still interested in cheap, trivial things. You are in the world. Even if you meditate to reach God, you are still in the world. Even if you meditate to attain nirvana, you are in the world - because meditation does not have a goal. Meditation is the view that all goals are false. Meditation is the understanding that desires lead nowhere.

Tips for meditation

1) Do not worry about what others are saying

Do not be afraid of speech and slander. A person who cares about what other people think will never get inside. He will be so busy with what others think or say.

2) Every day

Meditate every day at the same place, at the same time, and create hunger for meditation both within your body and in your mind. Every day in this special time dedicated to meditation, your body and your mind will demand meditation.

3) Special space for meditation

Use your own corner for meditation and nothing else. Then this space will become full and will be waiting for you every day. This corner will help you create extra vibration and a specific atmosphere to help you get deeper and deeper.

4) Lose control

Do not worry, fear is a barrier. If you continue to protect yourself, how do you want to get married? Both are the opposite. And because of this contradiction, you are wasting all your efforts. You waste your energy by fighting with yourself.

5) Be playful

Rejoice in the foolishness that comes from you. Help him, rejoice in him, work together. When we help you realize your madness, you will feel so voluptuous, so weightless and feel as sharp as if you were children.

6) It's just a fig

Leave the ego aside - whether big or small, don't worry - just witness your mind. Wait and be calm. Don't rush. It may take a few days for you to find out the bug. This is a bug! It's not art!

7) Stay in the moment

Whenever you find that your mind has rotated into the future or the past, immediately come back, back to the present. Do something, be something, but in the present.
