Ivan Vagner, a Russian cosmonaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS), claims to have captured a UFO on camera while recording the southern aurora. "Space visitors, or how I made the latest time-lapse recording," Vagner wrote in his tweet with a video from Wednesday (August 19.8.2020, XNUMX). The one-minute video shows the passing aurora borealis near Antarctica and Australia, Vagner said. "However, you will see something in the video other than just aurora borealis," he wrote.

The record captures the curvature of the Earth during the night, a green stream of aurora borealis moving above its surface and several distinctive stars in the background. "In 9-12 seconds, 5 objects flying side by side at the same distance will appear," Vagner wrote in the following tweet. "What do you think it is? Meteors, satellites, or…? ‟He added that the video was taken as time-lapse, so a short flash of 'objects' actually lasted about 52 seconds. Vagner denied that he or any other ISS crew member had seen the phenomenon live. He did not even indicate exactly when the recording was made. Whatever this phenomenon was, it takes the form of a series of lights arranged in a clear straight line.

What about Roscosmos?

Roscosmos, Russia's space agency, shared the video on its Twitter account on Wednesday. "An interesting and at the same time mysterious video made by Roscosmos cosmonaut Ivan Vagner… from the International Space Station,‟ the agency added a thoughtful smiley to the tweet. Vagner said the video was reported by Roscosmosu management and is currently being investigated by experts from the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Roscosmos spokesman Vladimir Ustimenko confirmed that the video was currently being analyzed, according to Russian news agency TASS. "It is too early to draw conclusions until our scientists at the Roscosmosua Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences have given their opinion," Ustimenko said. "It was decided to pass these materials on to experts, who will tell us their opinion."

Vagner (35) is a member of the ISS crew for the first time, where he and his Russian colleague Anatoi Ivanishin work with Chris Cassidy, the American crew commander. NASA did not mention Vagner's video on its blog in its Wednesday report on the mission. The blog says that Vagner recently worked on the maintenance of the station's orbital pipeline "after which he explored ways to improve Earth photography techniques." Cassidy did not tweet about Vagner's video and Ivanishin is not on Twitter.

UFOs remain a mystery

Aliens and UFO sightings have long been considered taboo suitable for conspiracy theories. However, the topic has slowly crept into the general public in recent years, especially after the New York Times revealed that the US government was funding a research project on the subject that had been running for many years and still works today. One of the project's former contractors told the Times that it would inform the Pentagon if it secured "an alien machine not made here on Earth."

The Pentagon then acknowledged its own records of encounters with "unidentifiable aerial phenomena" (UAP). The US Department of Defense officially released three videos in April this year that capture some UAPs in motion. The videos were originally leaked thanks to Tom DeLonge, a former frontman of the band Blink-182, who helped found the alien research organization. The phenomenon remains unexplained despite wild speculation about visitors from other planets. U.S. officials said they were much more honest about the UAP because it could pose a threat. They also want members of the military to report any possible meetings, rather than ignoring them because of the stigma attached to the issue.

Pentagon 14.8. announced that it had set up a UAP investigation team to "improve its understanding of the phenomenon and gain a better understanding of the nature and origin of UAP." The task of the investigation team is to "detect, analyze and catalog UAPs that could be a potential threat to US national security."

So far no convincing evidence has been found that aliens have visited Earth, and all unidentifiable flying objects or unidentifiable aerial phenomena remain unexplained, as their name suggests. The brazen attempt to "Attack Area 51" and "liberate" the captured aliens also failed, although there was great support for the idea.
