Few people know Slovak Giant wall, similar Great Wall of China. This ramp stretches from Slovakia, through Hungary, to Romania. It is right next to the village of Pečenice near Levice that it can be seen quite well. There is a locality Hrádok, full of special stones and stone structures.

The giant wall is also known by many as names such as Sečený val, Dlouhý val or Slovak Wall of China. Attribute Chinese wall got a wall for its length. It is estimated at more than 60 kilometers as the crow flies. It stretches from the Sitno hill to the south through the Štiavnica hills, Pečenice, Dudince and Dolní Semerovce, to the river Ipeľ.

At the time of its creation, it was up to 16 meters wide in some places and measured up to 8 meters in height. It was built of earth and stones that reinforced wooden palisades and beams.

Did the devils build it?

To this day, it is not known exactly who built the rampart and for what purpose. According to folklore, one of Slovakia's greatest mysteries was built by devils to separate hell from the earth. People believed this mainly because the whole rampart was charred. Hence the name Sintered wall. However, it was later discovered that it was only a classic burnout and not some devilish spells.

The construction of the rampart was probably well organized, as there are places in it with large stone blocks, which had to be handled by a sufficient number of people, as modern auxiliary technology did not yet exist at that time. A well cut into the rock or the remains of bridges, in turn, indicate that there were inhabited settlements near the ramparts. Also interesting are the tunnels carved into the rocks, used as secret passages.

Older than the Egyptian pyramids

Some archaeologists believe that the rampart may be older than the Egyptian pyramids. According to the new sober precessional dating, they date back to the period before the Great Flood (roughly 12000 years BCE).

The existence of the rampart is also mentioned in mythological songs called Eddy, where Surtr fought the gods. In the past, tall people were nothing special. This is also confirmed by the sites of tombs, which for millennia they hid the bodies of warriors measuring two to two and a half meters. A similar site was discovered under the Tatras.
