In the 18th century, in addition to the three pyramids in Giza known today by the Danish naval captain, the fourth pyramid was also sketched. The mystery of the fourth lost pyramid may finally be solved. In some cases, historians and archaeologists have spent their entire careers looking for an eternally escaping "great discovery" that would reveal to us the truth about what might have existed centuries ago. Egypt is still a very fertile ground for such discoveries. Pyramids, royal tombs and other treasures from the time of the country's ancient civilizations were discovered during the first research more than a hundred years ago.

Amateur historian Matthew Sibson now claims to have found evidence of the lost pyramid in Giza, near the three approximately 4500-year-old pyramids whose archaeologists have spent decades discovering. Each one attracts millions of tourists every year, eager to see the unique architecture and vast area once ruled by the Egyptian kings.

Examining ancient documents and his own work, Sibson said on his Ancient Architects YouTube channel that his research, land topography, and historical records lead him to believe that he had found the "lost" fourth pyramid at Giza. He added: "This pyramid is completely different from the others, it was about 100 feet lower and apparently had a square area at the top, which in my opinion served as a pedestal for the statue."

According to Express, Sibson claims that he has evidence that supports his views. It relies in part on documentation written and sketched by Danish naval captain Frederik Ludwig Norden in 1737, which also points to the existence of the Fourth Pyramid in Giza. "I think it's certainly possible, but what happened to it?" Sibson asks, "According to some institutions, it was dismantled in the 18th century and the stones used to build nearby Cairo."

According to Expres, however, a number of other experts have long ignored opinions about the existence of the fourth pyramid, including the theory of its dismantling and the use of stones for other buildings. Most of these historians and archaeologists have not yet agreed with Sibson's claims.

National Geographic mentions three incredible pyramids towering on the plateau of Giza: Giza, Khafre and Menkaure, built during the 4th Dynasty and named after the pharaohs who ruled at the time of construction. Sibson says his work offers evidence of the location of the fourth pyramid near what it calls the "ancient dam" - which, according to Express, means that the pyramid stood west of the existing ones. He acknowledged in his post on YouTube: "You can say it's just guessing", but he believes in the validity of his and Norden's research.

Sibson describes himself as a historian, but other sources say he is just a passionate fan of history and archeology, preaching exaggerated claims without valid scientific evidence to support them. In 2018, he stated that he had found evidence for the existence of Atlantis, a mythical underwater world that he claimed was part of an island chain, according to Jason Colavit's blog.

His theory has been greatly ridiculed and negated by leading historians and other experts. Sociologist, journalist and author Graham Hancock accused Sibson of plagiarism on his website, even a very failed one. It should be noted that Sibson himself admits that part of his work is really just speculation.

The Pyramids of Giza do not need help in strengthening their position as one of the real wonders of the world. As Egyptologist Peter Der Manuelian of the National Geographic Museum of Fine Arts in Boston said: “Many people consider this place to be a cemetery of its current meaning, but much more. These ornate tombs contain beautiful motifs from all aspects of ancient Egypt - so it is not just how Egyptians died, but how they lived. ”

The pyramids still keep many secrets from scientists and archaeologists because they have not yet been clear about how they were built many centuries ago. Unfortunately, these gaps in knowledge give room for speculation and assertions that have no basis in scientific knowledge. Only time will tell whether Sibson's speculation is a simple guess that only cloudes historical waters, or whether his hypothesis opens up new opportunities for successful research.
