There are still many treasures that remain hidden from the world and await their discovery. In this article I'll take you on a journey where we explore five lost legendary treasures. How many times have you been walking around the beach and wondering what's likely to be under the sand? How many times have you watched the film about the great treasures that have been hidden for centuries?

Fortune of families from Virginia

During the American Civil War, Norse General John Singleton Mosby confiscated the large fortunes of wealthy families in present-day Virginia. When the enemy drove him into a tight spot, Mosby gave the treasure to a man he trusted. He hid it, but the trail is lost in the past. The huge treasure thus remains lost.

Poklad Flor Do Mar

Flor Do Mar was huge Portuguese karaka. It was the largest built sailing ship in its time.

The Portuguese shipping miracle returned after the conquest of the city of Melaka. General Alfonso the Great ordered the ship to return with unimaginable wealth. He received it from the ruler of Siam (present-day Thailand) as a gift to the Portuguese king. The ship was unfit for navigation, but because it was the pride of the Portuguese Navy, it continued to be used.

When the ship was returning from Melaka, it was caught in a storm in the Straits of Malacca, where it finally sank in November 1511. No one knows its exact location, so the ship, even with its huge treasure, remains lost and waiting to be found.

Gold Atahualpa

When the Astanual ruler of Atahualpa was captured in Cajamarca by the Spanish conquistador Pizarro, he asked his subjects to gather a tremendous treasure that everyone would redeem for liberty.

According to the legend, the Spaniards eventually rejected the treasure and the Incas threw tremendous wealth into Lake Yanacocha. Other legends claim that the Inca treasure buried somewhere in a secret mountain cave.

Genghis Khan's tomb

It is no secret that the tombs of the great emperors and kings are full of unimaginable wealth.
For centuries, explorers and archaeologists have sought to find the place of eternal rest of the great Mongol emperor. In spite of numerous quests, however, the tomb of Chingischan and its potential treasure remains unknown. The legend says that there is a treasure of incalculable value in the Qingischan tomb. Many assume they are buried somewhere near the Onon River.

Treasure of the Nazis in Lake Toplitz

After the defeat of the Nazis in the Second World War, countless rumors about the fate of the great treasure gathered during the Nazi rule spread. The nephew of a German officer claimed that the Nazis were throwing gold-filled chests into a lake in Austria. One of the most sought-after treasures could lie on the bottom of Austrian Lake Toplitz, although no evidence has ever been found about its existence.
